Central Lunch, a Goldsboro landmark, is a great place for breakfast and lunch. Dee Ismail, who took over as owner a couple of years ago, has done a great job of transforming the place into a comfortable place with excellent down-home cooking at reasonable prices. Lunch specials are about $6 and breakfast averages $3-6--and portions are always generous. Nothing fancy, just home cooking done well and with friendly service--no attitude or strangers here! Locals and visitors alike are welcomed. Homemade desserts vary daily and the biscuits are buttery, flaky and the best I've had in a long time. The decor is casual with pictures of historic downtown Goldsboro and plants galore. Sidewalk seating is available out front. For those tethered to their news and email, two flat screen TVs run news with closed-captioning visible from most areas of the restaurant and free Wi-fi is available. Menu is available at their website: www.CentralLunch.com.

Boy you havent been in since 2006 then. A new owner bought Central Lunch a 100 year old landmark in August of 20087. She has remodeled,. redecorated and made this into a beautiful restaurant. The food is the best around and you get a plate piled so high it is unbelievable. You can do a hearty lunch for under 7 dollars. Homemade Pies, cakes, and biscuits served all day by staff that are the friendliest without being overbearing. They see to your every need and have never met a stranger. Central lunch has been going down in the past few years, but now that the new owner Dee has taken over, it stays packed, Her crowds are the sign that lets you know how good the food and the company is. Now it looks like Central Lunch is headed into her 2nd century full speed. And Goldsboro loves it. This is an outstanding place. Weve been going for years good to bad.. It was worth waiting for to see it evolve to Great Statis. Stop in on Center Street and see Dee and the gang

This restaurant received only a satisfactory rating because it is just that--satisfactory. You get a good-tasting meal at a very affordable price. The atmosphere is almost like a truck stop, but not quite. Located downtown Goldsboro, it is within walking or short driving distance of many businesses.
